Are You Hurt or Injured?
When an athlete experiences pain that hinders their performance, trainers and medical staff seek to determine if he is hurt or if he is injured. If he is hurt, he can often walk it off, bandage it up, support it somehow and remain in the game. If he is injured, there is a structural issue of some kind that needs medical attention and that requires leaving the game.
The Balancing Act of Blame and Personal Responsibility
The journey of life is fraught with landmines - IEDs that are well hidden and create massive amounts of damage. We don’t see them coming and, if we don’t respond wisely, they can create in us some intense PTSD issues. I have noticed that the overwhelming majority of these explosions involve people; betrayal, rejection, attacks, and disappointments with people create damage in us that require diagnosis, treatment, and recovery time.
