Welcome to launch day for Upstream with Jim and Jon! Upstream is a weekly podcast featuring father and son conversations about discipleship and culture in the Pacific Northwest.
With our podcast, we want to help frustrated believers discover joy and hope through meaningful faith conversations that inspire them to pursue even more such conversations on their own. The two of us have been enjoying discussions like these for years and have recently come to recognize just how powerful and rare they actually are. We want as many people as possible to consistently experience fun, thoughtful, and honest faith conversations that keep them moving forward with energy and clarity in their walk with God. We call that discipleship.
And this is so much more than just a podcast.
Today we anxiously and courageously go public with our long-held private dream. That dream is to produce not only podcasts, but also blogs and books that help people develop a faith and identity that will equip them to live powerful and impactful lives.
Too many people are disengaged in their faith and experiencing frustration, boredom, and an absence of meaning in their lives. We believe that following Jesus, even when it goes against the current, is the wisest and most powerful way to live your life, and that spiritual fatherhood is a key ingredient. In short, we want to do our small part and see a movement of disciple-making relationships that empower people of every generation to live defined lives that change their world for Christ.
The hub of our efforts is our website, www.jimandjon.com where you can find access to everything we produce and learn more about us.
We post on our blog two times per week with articles designed to provoke even more dialog and reflection. The goal is to create a collection of content that will help others keep moving toward being the best version of themselves.
We have written our first book, “The Pursuit,” and seek to write many helpful e-books and full-length books moving forward. The Pursuit, a 40-day journey into the basics of Biblical Christianity, is available in a sturdy journal format under the “Books” tab of our site and in paperback or Kindle version on Amazon. We will also be producing one e-book each year going forward as a team.
If this resonates with you, please subscribe to Upstream on your favorite podcasting app. And if you like what you hear, consider joining “The Upstream Team” through Patreon, a crowd-sourced funding tool that will help us take this mission further, faster. You can find that resource at patreon.com/jimandjon.
We believe life is hard, God is good, and the best is yet to come!
